Come share the fun and fellowship as we share our favorite pieces of critter jewelry.   Whether elegant, sentimental or whimsical, these jool pets, are such a delight to behold!

Trifari Persian Cat Brooch

I love Persian cats and they're not often portrayed in jewelry.  So, I was delighted to finally get my hands on this elegant and sizeable Trifari piece from about 1937.  With the pavé stones and green cab eyes, it especially reminds me of Emmy, the silver tabby Persian that was my companion for over 12 years.  My current fur-child, Kallie, can be seen here.

Ethel Mae

This Kenneth Jay Lane pug, part of his Treasures of the Duchess of Windsor series, is very meaningful to me as it represents my beloved pug, Ethel Mae, who is now a beautiful little senior of 12½ years old.  I am as obsessed with pugs as the Duke and Duchess who had about nine pugs.

Whimsical Rabbits

I love figurals and novelty items, and these 2 rabbit pins fit those categories.  The first rabbit, I believe, is wearing a WWI Civil Defense uniform.  The second depicts a ski-racing rabbit duo, apparently a souvenir item from St. Moritz.  I love the personalities of the rabbits as depicted in these pins.

Boucher Praying Mantis

My sweet pet Boucher Praying Mantis doesn't need a name, because she is the only mantis in my life!   Insect anatomy has always fascinated me, and the design of the praying mantis is one of the most beautiful in the insect world to me, plus I love her color.  From the first time I saw the rarer enameled Boucher brooch, I knew I had to have one eventually.

Look-alikes

The CJ pieces I pick for my collection often look like my own horses as you can see from this composite image.  And, they mirror the same wonderful attributes of my horses: they're healthy, happy, inquisitive and loyal.

Comical Dog

I just think this guy is hilarious, so that's why he's special to me.  I love dogs, and we can't have one......so I just love on 'em when I can.  He looks like a lot of dog types, and he looks happy.  And kinda:   "Huh?"  [Ed. note:  looks like a golden retriever that's been doing some retrieving.]

Eric, the Wild Bird

When I received this unmarked bird brooch it was in terrible shape.  Most of the enamel was gone and half the rhinestones were missing.  I decided to have him restored with colors I wanted, making him a fantasy piece, and named him Eric.   The piece is 3¾ by 3½" and is too heavy to wear, but just looking at him makes me smile.

Woeful Lion

This melancholy Panetta lion brooch just looks like he needs a hug!  His face and expression are so endearing and charming.

Sneaky Panda

Although I've sold many animal pins over the years, this charming little Panda, marked 'PAT APLD FOR' , found his way into my personal jewelry box!  The brooch is pot metal, measuring 1¾ by 1 3/8".  He appears to be climbing over a fence - maybe to get to an orchard full of delicious fruit.  [Ed note: or sneaking into Dotty's jewelry box.]
